The best time to wear a sweater... Is all the time

I'm busy sewing for next month (as people who follow my twitter know, I'm gonna be at Pax East this year), so I don't have much stuff documented. But here's something from the vault 'cause I was never really happy with the pictures we got about it.
we took this at our (historical) dance rehearsal, so we were stuck with a hideous yellow background

My sister, her friend Raven, and I all have mostly matching sweaters. If you've seen us at Comicazi (we usually go on sundays), one of us was probably wearing one. I think mine is just the best thing because it's really soft and warm because it's so big. Though I am jealous of the others because I like the stripes on the sleeves.

what has Julia been up to?

I've mostly been shopping. My sister and Raven want to do a pin-ups and comic books photoshoot, but I found something to add:
Why not have some pictures of cute pin-up girls playing a cute retro board game? (I'm wondering how many people actually remember this movie. It was basically Jumanji in space.)

I also designed some custom fabric:
Arrows and Lanterns

Stars and Beetles
I made hair bows with the samples I ordered (and decided to brighten the yellow a bit)

and I might have bought myself some valentines candy because of the boxes.

I'm running out of titles for nothing posts

So I've been a horrible blogger recently. mostly because I haven't. been, blogging. recently.
Nope, been too busy doing nothing and wasting my money. here's some things I've gotten since my last post:
The wonderful bows were a Booster-day present for myself. They're sold by the lovely etsy seller: SirenLovesYou and there are some of her other designs on her art tumblr. (I'm keeping my eye open for if she restocks her set of young justice hair bows)

I got this from claire's when I went to the mall with my sister.

I got to see The Hobbit with some friends and fell in love with it. Sadly, I'm not much into reading (which always surprises people for some reason) so I don't think I'm gonna read the Tolkien books, but I will probably watch the extended cuts of the Lord of the Rings movies to satiate my need for the next movie.
So yeah, I bought the key on a keychain but then just took of the keychain part and put it on a chain to make a necklace because I do stuff like that.

New York Comic Con part one

I like that the first ad I see in NYC is SHIRTLESS GREEN ARROW!
The return of Batman-girl and Robin
Guest starring Marvel Girl
That awesome moment when you find cosplayers of your favorite character(s)

Bane is Dangerous!

I went clothes shopping with my family and I needed to stop in front of the Converse X DC comics window display:

Buy ALL The Batman!

I went out fabric shopping with my family because the Sewfisticated in Framingham was having a parking lot sale. I mostly got some simple patterns for a dollar each. And today was horrible weather (too hot and humid) so of course we went inside for a little air conditioning.

Best idea ever. I was able to find two different Batman logo prints and just needed to buy all they had (5 yards of each).

The one on the right is pretty close to the logo from the 90s Tim Burton films, while the one on the left makes me think of the 60s Adam West show. Which means I know exactly what to do with it since I recently bought a reprint of a 60s dress pattern.

I don't know when I'll get a chance to sew all the things I want, but hopefully soon.

The Late Night Adventures of Batman-girl

The Dark Night rose Thursday night and I was lucky enough to have it playing at my favorite theater. I took my sister to be my robin and my mum to be the photographer. now lets do this thing.
Here's the applique work and the bow-belt. I'm trying to think of a way to reenforce the front of the belt because the bow is a bit heavy. (actual stuff under cut)

Sewing for the Dark Night Raises Midnight Release

Need to finish sewing the applique, add a zipper, and make a belt. Probably won't have time to make a cape, but I'll probably be able to make something for my hair (either a black and yellow headband or bat ear clips.

I'm currently busy with College orientation stuff so I'm just going to leave this here
