Ted 2 open casting

Gosh I've been gone a while. To be fair, I had basically dropped of the face of the earth as opposed to just neglecting my blog.
Last Saturday, I finally got off my butt and did a thing. I had never heard any good things about Ted, y'know that one movie about the super crude teddy bear. But then my sister returned from visiting some friends in England with some new information such as there's a party scene with Flash "A-ahhh" Gordan, and that it takes place locally.
Also, she told me, they're looking for people in costume for something and we need to do it. So I left finding costumes to the last minute and spend the night before rhinestone-ing a light up Mjolnir. Raven invited her friend, Ari, to be our stand-in Thor since Sarah was on vacation, AND THE BLINGVENGERS ASSEMBLED.

It was like all the lines on Comic Con without the Comic Con. It was wicked hot and sunny and three days later, I still have a sunburn-line on my chest. Looks like we won't know if we get to be extras for a while, but filming has started at this point.
After spending half the day in line, everyone was tired and hungry. Being in the mood for ice cream
instead of shawarma, we took a trip to Friendly's.
My favorite thing at Friendly's was a little girl telling her family about the superheroes "But they're all girls!" I love little kids when I'm not directly interacting with them. I had that kinda disgusting "celebrate" ice cream which was like vanilla chunks of cake and frozen blue frosting mixed in.
The last order of business was going to Build-A-Bear because Raven does a ton of traveling for work. I made a Captain A-bear-ica because why not.

At New York Comic Con

Hey guys. I'm at NYCC on Saturday, work on Sunday, and resting Monday, so I don't know when a new post will be.

Bling-vengers Assemble!

I gave a hint of what everyone was going to wear on Saturday, so now it's time for the big reveal.
Bling-vengers Assemble!
Antonia and Raven were super excited to be Science Bros
First things first, we checked in at the masquerade table for Sunday's performance
There were freebie tables in the con-suite, including a table devoted to the movie Warm Bodies. the guy manning the table needed to get a picture with us.
changed into what we had so far for the masquerade so the tech guys could work out the lighting
Blocking an aisle in the dealer's room so people could take pictures
You wouldn't like the Hulk when (s)he's hungry. That goes for the rest of us too, so many trips to the green room for snacks. Also, Thor is too cool for your shit.
I know Wonder Woman is DC, but that doesn't mean we can't take pictures together.
there was an in-character "Dating Game" that we entered.

And we got pretty far.

who knew the trekkies would be the perfect match?
Bling-vengers out!

crafty crafty craftiness

I've been doing some crafts and watching movies recently. so here are some things:
almost done with my bedazzled sheild.

made a first whack at an apple of Eden.

I'll make a better one eventually, I swear.
And my sister got me this guy. I've totally loved Jericho from first sight. He's blond and mute, what more could you ask for?

More Rinestoning and other things

Spent another night rinestoning:
SPARKLE!
But then we ran out of white. So that's all we got done.

My sister ordered more wigs from The Five Wits, but I only have pictures of her in the Gothic Lolipocalypse in the color Bloody Mary (she had gotten a second art bang zodiac star and the gothic lolipocalypse in café frangelico):
As you can tell, I really like these wigs.
My friend gave me a bottle opener (apparently they are a common item to give away at races) and my sister had told me about how much Lady Blackhawk drinks. This was the next logical step:
HAWKAAA!
And lastly I got a good haul from Newbury Comics a coupe days ago:

I finally found a copy of the director's cut of daredevil! (don't judge me but I love that movie) and all these were $4 a pop. What a deal!

horrible blogger is horrible at updating

I'm amused by how many times I've written on this blog about how I am horrible at updating. I'm always like "I wanted to update sooner but -insert excuse here-," but I never get better at updating.

So here's an update:
I did my nails in the beginning of the week (but then broke a nail when sewing so they look ugly now).
Assassin's Creed 3 FTW
I also hung out with Antonia and Raven and started working on a sparkly shield for my Captain America costume (seen here and here)
the shield was bough on sale at CVS for $6

Here it is after two hours of gluing.
It's a children's shield so it will be small enough that I won't want to murder myself while bedazzling and it won't cover my costume when I pose.

I'm Bringing Sexy Cap

Hi, all! I always feel like I need to blog more, but I'm far to busy (meaning too lazy and irresponsible) to have a regular schedule.

So I went to my first party as a college student last Saturday: Comicazi's Halloweeniversary party! Here's the line up of me and my crazy friends:
Lady Gaga, Fiona, Captain Ameriboob America, Linkara, Panda, and Banshee
Hilarious Story #1: A guy comes up to me and says "I never thought I would ever say Captain America is hot."

One of many uses for an arc reactor: filling out raffle tickets in a dark room
Hilarious Story #2: My sister found someone dressed as the Doctor (the one with the scarf, Tom Baker). Of course she compliments his scarf and he offers her a jelly baby.
At this point, my friend Sarah has been watching this conversation. So, my sister accepts the candy and Sarah is just like "You just took candy from a stranger. Don't people say to never do that? Why did you do that."
My sister responds with "He's not a stranger, He's the Doctor."
Me and my invisible shield
I had accidentally entered the Women's costume competition as well as the Group competition. When I went up alone, I heard someone yell "Sing the song!" My sister heard someone yell "God Bless America!"
The picture of my sister and me from the Comicazi facebook
I pretty much spent the night "getting down with my bad self" (Oh how I love using lame lingo), and making boob jokes (wait... that isn't what all girls do when they're bored?).
V for Victory! We won the group costume prize!
I had a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to next year! Now to figure out what to spend my prize on.
Also I had Captain America nails under my gloves.

Wig Party

So, I haven't gotten any pictures from the con yet, so yeah. But I did buy an amaze-balls wig (by which I mean my sister bought it for me) from The Five Wits. I want to put together a Birds of Prey group with my sister and her friends (hopefully we will be able to go to NYCC next year), so I got the wig for Lady Blackhawk:

I've been a fan of her uniform for a while now and have been tempted to read Blackhawks because of her.
So yeah, I got the "Art Bomb Zodiac Star" style. Here it is:

a little curling and a hat away from perfect
the wig came with a cute clip in pony tail (we bought a second one for $5)
I think I might go to Comicazi's Halloweeniversary party as a girly Captain America
Or maybe as a girly pirate Captain America

Superhero Jewelery

So, I went to see the avengers again with my family. Good times, but unrelated to this post.

Anyways, on the first day of BCC, I visited my sister and she gifted me a pair of Captain America earrings. She bought them on Ebay but is pretty sure they had come from 1928's marvel line of jewelry.

Unfortunately I was only able to find them on Ebay as well while searching for pictures of them.

So here I have my favorite marvel jewelry out right now: (under the cut)

Previously, on Juia Goes to College:

I painted my nails again:

This time, Fullmetal Alchemist style! (because it took me this long to finally finish FMA:Brotherhood)

I went to the College Night at the Museum of Science:
"turn on thrusters!"

"draw me like one of your french girls... IN SPACE!"

playing around in the models exhibit means making Captain America and Iron Man squiggles:

Also, my college activities board is putting together a New York trip to see Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark which means I'll need to make a more formal Spider-man dress.

seriously, I spent months listening to the soundtrack.

Keep on Rollin'

I finally got a chance to premiere my roller skates in public because Lesley's campus activities board turned one of the auditoriums into a roller rink.
I'm super graceful.

After I got an hour of skating under my belt.

I'm not too happy with the outfit, but the roller skates are stellar.

In all, it was tons of fun. I only fell twice! Bruising my left hand was totally worth it though.
