So, I went to see the avengers again with my family. Good times, but unrelated to this post.
Anyways, on the first day of BCC, I visited my sister and she gifted me a pair of Captain America earrings. She bought them on Ebay but is pretty sure they had come from 1928's marvel line of jewelry.
Unfortunately I was only able to find them on Ebay as well while searching for pictures of them.
So here I have my favorite marvel jewelry out right now: (under the cut)

Previously, on Juia Goes to College:
I painted my nails again:
This time, Fullmetal Alchemist style! (because it took me this long to finally finish FMA:Brotherhood)
I went to the College Night at the Museum of Science:
"turn on thrusters!" |
"draw me like one of your french girls... IN SPACE!" |
playing around in the models exhibit means making Captain America and Iron Man squiggles:
Also, my college activities board is putting together a New York trip to see Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark which means I'll need to make a more formal Spider-man dress.
seriously, I spent months listening to the soundtrack. |

Trust the Gold Standard...
That is, the Booster Gold standard.
So the story behind this is that I've only painted my nails, like, three times or something. Two of those times I painted them blue, which I ended up liking a lot.
I was hanging out with a college friend yesterday and she needed to buy new nail polish, and I fell in love with this gold polish. I decided I could only buy it if I used it and the first thing that popped into my head was Booster Gold. So yeah, I did this and I'm even wearing my Blue Beetle dress today.
look! It's my ugly hands! |

Keep on Rollin'
I finally got a chance to premiere my roller skates in public because Lesley's campus activities board turned one of the auditoriums into a roller rink.
In all, it was tons of fun. I only fell twice! Bruising my left hand was totally worth it though.
I'm super graceful. |
After I got an hour of skating under my belt. |
I'm not too happy with the outfit, but the roller skates are stellar. |

I'm Gonna Wreck It!!
sorry, I'll make an actual post soonish. I have something planned and half written, but I just saw the new trailer for Wreck-It Ralph.
You don't understand, I love warm fuzzy movies and this looks like the warmest and fuzziest movie ever. And, y'know, the fact it's about videogames and all doesn't hurt.

moar Assassin's Creed? Yes! (part 3)
so yes, I'm going on a bit of an AC binge. Sue me. I was finally able to meet Taylor in person (the girl I mentioned here but wasn't sure if I was getting ahead of myself but it turns out she was also very excited to meet me too so everything works in the end). that was a long side note thing. Anyways yes and she had also mentioned liking the costume of the courtesan:
It's a less complex costume than I had picked out (the smuggler) and it would be nice being characters on the same side and all.
I'm a bit disappointed in the costume because the original development art was this:
I personally find it more visually interesting. I also like hats. Hats are cool and this one draws out the shape of the mask (because masks are cool as well). I also think is has a slightly more historical feel. The design that the team went with kinda says "pirate" to me, but I could just be weird like that.
While we're talking about cosplay, I think more people should be the apprentice characters. Why do you need to be a main character anyways? aren't these guys recognizable enough?

Sorry, settling in to college life
I'm not going to be very active until I get more into the swing of things (and move a sewing machine into my dorm). So here, have a Steve Rogers sewing:
context, he's deciding what his new superhero identity should be. his first idea was "The Swashbuckler". I'm glad he decided on "Nomad" |
Steve loves capes as much as my sister does. and is that a Batman reference I see? |

Now officially at college
Moved into college today, and I am just pumped. here's my new room situation:
and my bed:
and my outfit:
I get nervous before big changes, and the only thing that calms my nerves is crafting, so I made a patch of the Assassin's insignia:
And then I wore my birdie ring because eagles are cool:
so I'm going to live with two other girls in a triple room and share the floor with some others. It's a victorian house style dorm, so there is a common room downstairs and a communal kitchen. My mum gave me an early Chrismas present, an Xbox360, so now we have three systems in our room. Here's to hoping this year turns out great.
and my bed:
I needed a spider-man poster creeping on my ceiling. |
Inspired by Assassin's Creed (but you could have guesses that, dear reader) |
